Intervention of malaria infection in humans and transmission to mosquitoes

Malaria report from World Health Organization (WHO) estimated more than 200 million infected cases worldwide. The transmission of disease is by Anopheles mosquito which affected almost all the counties in the tropical area. The highest mortality rate was observed in Africa. Pre-mature mortality was commonly found in sub-Saharan region with the children under the age of 5. The intervention of transmission from human-to-mosquito and mosquito-to-human is the key for disease control and elimination. The more understanding on malaria parasite at transmission stages and host cell interaction would benefit for anti-malarial drug and vaccine development which are the useful tools for malaria management and control.
